What Will You Learn?
Module 1: Know your Decks
Get to grips with your instrument: understand what does what, how it connects, where to get music, and most importantly, where the play button is!
Module 2: Getting handS on
This is where it gets fun and where you’ll be making music - loading tracks, using the faders, playing with the EQ and understanding how to use the jog wheels.
Module 3: In the mIx
Beat matching is a way of mixing two different tracks together to make one seamless piece of music.
Module 4: Transitions
Bring your transitions to life using by with different techniques using faders and EQ
Module 5: Structure
Understanding song structure is key to knowing when to drop in a new track.
Module 6: THE DROP
The filter is an iconic effect that every DJ uses. Learn how to use it to enhance ‘the drop’ (you’ll learn what ‘the drop’ is too!).
Module 7: BROADCAST
Create a recording of your own live mix to take away, share and upload.

Four lessons will be added to your account (under ‘credits’) within 24hr so you can book them at a time that suits
When you want to book in another session, simply click ‘use’ on the lessons in your account and get booking.
HOW DO I BOOK?
Frequently asked questions

Sessions take place on either Tuesday evenings or during the day on Sundays. Simply book the first session and then the remaining four sessions will be added to your account ready for you to book when you’re ready.

Don’t worry - just give us 24hrs notice and we’ll issue you with a session credit to book a catch up session at a time that suits.
The credit will be added to your lesson portal account for you to use in the same way as the other sessions. The only difference is that it will be marked as ‘make-up session.’
The session is forfeited if less than 24hr notice is provided.

You need to use all of the sessions with 2 months of the first lesson date

Once you have booked your first session, the remaining four sessions will appear in the ‘credit’ section of your lesson portal account.
It can take up to 24hrs for the sessions to appear. If they are not there after 24hrs, please drop us an email at hello@gvma.co.uk and we’ll put it right

The sessions will take place at our specialist teaching centre on the corner of the Kennet Centre in Newbury Town Centre.

No - we have all the gear that you will need for the sessions. Just turn up and get ready to have some fun! You may wish to bring a USB stick with some of your favourite tracks on.
Some students like to have their own decks to practice on at home. We can recommend which ones to go for.

As well as our beginner DJ course, we also offer 1:1 specialist tuition to help you develop you DJing. You can book regular lessons or one-off single lessons.

As long as you give us 24hrs notice, we’ll issue you with a session credit to rebook.
Login into the lesson portal and select ‘cancel’ on the session that you can’t make. Follow the prompts through and a lesson credit will be issued.
