One-Off Lessons Terms & Conditions

Update July 2026 | Effective 1st September 2026

These terms explain how booking a one-off lesson with Good Vibes Music Academy (“Good Vibes”, “we”, “us” or “our”) works — including how to book, how payment works, and what happens if you need to cancel. They apply to everyone who books a one-off lesson.

We’ve written them in plain English so they’re easy to follow. When you book a one-off lesson, you’re agreeing to everything set out below. If anything is unclear, just email us at hello@gvma.co.uk and we’ll be happy to help.

What we mean by a one-off lesson

A one-off lesson is a single, individual lesson booked on its own — not part of an ongoing membership. Each lesson’s length, format and price are shown when you book, and these terms apply alongside those details.

Booking and payment

One-off lessons are paid for in full at the time of booking, which confirms and secures your lesson slot — a slot isn’t held until it’s paid for.

If you need to cancel

We understand that plans change. What happens when you cancel depends on how much notice you give:

More than 24 hours’ notice: we’ll issue a catch-up lesson that you can use to book a replacement lesson.

24 hours’ notice or less: the lesson is forfeited — no catch-up lesson or refund given.

To make sure that we are able to action your request in time, you must cancel your lesson via your Good Vibes login on the website giving more than 24 hours before your lesson if you’d like a catch-up lesson.

Using a Catch-up Lesson

A catch-up lesson lets you rebook your lesson for another time. There’s one important thing to know:

Once a catch-up has been used to book a new lesson, it can’t be re-issued again. If you then cancel that catch-up lesson — for any reason, and however much notice you give — the catch-up lesson is used up and the lesson is forfeited.

In other words, a cancellation gives you one chance to rebook. This keeps things fair and helps us make the most of our teachers’ time.

Catch-up Lessons

A few simple rules keep catch-up lessons fair for everyone:

  • A catch-up must be used within 30 days of being issued.

  • Catch-up lessons are personal to the student and can’t be transferred to another person.

  • A catch-up lessons covers a lesson of the same type and length as the one you originally booked.

  • Catch-up lessons have no cash value and can’t be exchanged for a refund.

If we need to cancel or change your lesson

Occasionally we may need to cancel or move a lesson — for example if your teacher is unwell. Where this happens, we’ll let you know as soon as we can and we’ll issue you a catch-up lesson to replace the original lesson.  Catch-up lessons for teacher cancellations must be used within 60 days of the affected lesson.

Behaviour and code of conduct

Good Vibes is a positive and welcoming place to learn. We ask that students, parents and carers treat our teachers, staff and fellow students with courtesy and respect. In cases of serious or unacceptable behaviour — such as abuse, threats, or behaviour that puts others at risk — we reserve the right to end a lesson, or to decline a future booking, without refund. We’ll always talk things through with you first wherever we reasonably can.

Supervision and safety

Good Vibes is responsible for students only while they are in their lesson. We are not able to supervise students before or after the lesson, including in any waiting area. Please make sure younger students are accompanied and looked after outside of lesson times, and dropped off and collected promptly.

Safeguarding and child protection

The safety and wellbeing of the children and young people we teach is our top priority. We have a robust safeguarding and child protection policy in place, and all our staff undergo enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checks. We have a designated Safeguarding Lead, and any concerns are handled sensitively and in line with our policy. A copy of our safeguarding policy is available on our website or by request — just email hello@gvma.co.uk.

Photos, video and performances

From time to time, we take photographs or video at lessons and events — for example to celebrate our students, capture memories, or promote Good Vibes on our website and social media. We’ll only use images of students where we have your consent, and for under-18s we’ll seek the consent of a parent or guardian. You can decline, or withdraw your consent at any time, by emailing hello@gvma.co.uk, and we’ll stop using the relevant images going forward.

Our liability and belongings

Instruments and personal belongings brought to a lesson are your responsibility and are kept at your own risk — please don’t bring anything valuable that isn’t needed for the lesson. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can’t be limited or excluded by law. Otherwise, our responsibility to you is limited to providing the lesson you’ve paid for.

Data protection and privacy

We take your privacy seriously and handle personal data in line with UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. We only collect the information we need to take your booking, run the lesson, take payment and keep you informed. We keep it secure, we don’t sell it, and we only share it with others where it’s necessary to provide our service or where the law requires it.

When it comes to payments, your card details are handled entirely by our trusted payment provider, Stripe, who processes them securely on our behalf. We never see or store your full card details ourselves.

We’ll only send you marketing or newsletters if you’ve opted in, and you can unsubscribe at any time. You have rights over your personal data — including the right to access it, correct it, or ask us to delete it. To make a request or ask a privacy question, email us at hello@gvma.co.uk.

Complaints

We want everyone to have a great experience, but if something isn’t right we’d like the chance to put it right. Please email us at hello@gvma.co.uk and we’ll look into it and get back to you as quickly as we can.

We may update these terms from time to time — for example, to reflect changes to how our lessons work or to keep up with the law. The terms that apply to your booking are the ones in place at the time you book.
